InterCoast Building Solutions is pleased to welcome members of LANIK to Vancouver this week.
Headquartered in Asteasu, Spain, LANIK has been a leader in the field of structural systems development for
over 35 years and specializes in the design and manufacture retractable roofing systems, space frame structures
(space grid systems), single-layer (transparent) structures, and others.  Their versatility makes them an ideal
choice for the execution of even the most elaborate long-span cladding systems in many applications.

In addition to conducting a number of site visits to various projects, John Riley of InterCoast and Javier
Cabezon and Zurine Fermin of LANIK will be providing Lunch & Learn presentations to design and
engineering firms over the course of the four-day visit.  This is a rare opportunity to have product engineers and designers share their technical expertise, product development and project success stories with our local
industry professionals.  During this whirlwind visit, there may be opportunities for you to meet with LANIK to
discuss their structural systems or project possibilities.  Please contact John Riley at 604-593-5601 or john@icbuildingsolutions.com to discuss availability.

InterCoast Building Solutions is an industry partner with the BCIT Centre for Architectural Ecology and
proudly supports the Centre’s innovative research on green roof and living wall systems.  InterCoast would
like to take this opportunity to congratulate Ms. Sara Bergen, a 4th year student in the BCIT Architectural
Science degree program and the recent recipient of the very first Cornelia Hahn Oberlander Scholarship
and Research Grant.  The $4000 grant, awarded in January 2012, was developed by the Centre for Architectural
Ecology and its industry partners to inspire BCIT students to strive for the same level of achievement that
Ms. Cornelia Oberlander has demonstrated in the field of architectural ecology.

The project is a preface to the proposed development of the Vancouver Public Library roof as accessible
space. The research investigates the physical and sensory connectivity of the Vancouver Public Library green
roof to potential rooftops developments as future habitable urban spaces in the surrounding community.
Sara is now advancing the research project at the Centre with the supervision of Dr. Maureen Connelly, MAIBC.

Sincerely,
John Riley, CPMR
